> Overview

The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association was founded in 1933 by a small number of Colorado dealers organizing to protest a federal excise tax that would raise the price of vehicles for their customers and hurt what relatively few sales were present at that time. The association was officially incorporated in 1938 and has grown considerably since then. It now represents 260 new car and truck dealers throughout the state to their various publics, including: the United States Congress, the Colorado General Assembly, various federal and state regulatory agencies, city councils, the media, and the public.

The association is governed by a Board of Directors, who are elected by CADA members to represent them at all scheduled meetings. The board consists of five officers, twelve district directors, up to six at-large directors, and the NADA Director. Association committees, appointed by the chairperson, focus on issues requiring in-depth study or consideration. The chairman, vice chairman, secretary, treasurer, and immediate past chairman serve one-year terms, and all district directors serve three-year terms. The president and vice president are the ranking staff members in charge of day-to-day operations and direct a staff of nine (9) located at the CADA Headquarters in Denver

Membership in the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association provides vital support to the automotive industry of Colorado, and with this affiliation comes a variety of benefits specially designed and created for CADA members.
